Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ,
I am sitting on the dock on Lake Andrew with the kids at camp and the camp is just starting to come alive. I got up early this morning to go sit by the lake and was struck by the beauty of the sunrise and the stillness around the camp and on the lake.
You see, last night we were in the center of a severe storm and found ourselves in a safe zone (in a very small hot, humid, stinky room) with 30 of our closest new friends. We sang songs, told stories, played brainteasers, and other games to keep the campers distracted from the storms outside, we struggled trusting that the young adults responsible for our campers and us had it under control. (they did, mind you...they are well trained and followed protocols to keep our campers safe and our needs both physical and emotional were met).
As I reflect this morning, I am struck with the beauty of the new day. I found comport this morning sitting by the lake in the
stillness - it was a gentle reminder of psalmist David’s words - Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10). There will be storms in life that scare and challenge us, we may even find ourselves working to distract us from these storms, but we live in the promise as beloved Children of God that nothing can separate us from God’s love.
So I invite you to take some time in the months ahead to find a quiet place to just be. Be still...be still and know that God is God. Take time to ponder that thought, take it in and then go forth knowing that you are beloved by God.
Peace to you in the name of Christ
Pastor Krista
